Double down on your double chin.
Sixty-eight percent of people say they’re bothered by their double chin. If you’re one of them, there’s Kybella.
Kybella® is a nonsurgical alternative to liposuction. It is an FDA-approved, nonsurgical treatment that helps address “submental fullness,” aka the dreaded double chin.
Because submental fullness can be due to genetics, weight gain, and/or aging, diet and exercise alone may not help.
Kybella uses a synthetic acid that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. It is administered as a series of injections into the fat under the chin and once those cells are destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat.
- FDA approved
- Destroys fat cells for good
- No anesthesia or surgery required
- Minimal downtime
- See results after 3 months
After the Kybella treatment, you will have some temporary swelling and bruising which will subside typically within 1 month. The number of treatment sessions will vary patient to patient based on the amount of fat under the chin and your treatment goals. Most patients require a minimum of 2 treatments spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart to achieve their desired results and report seeing results after 3 months.

Kybella is FDA cleared for fat cells in the submental area (under the chin).
Kybella injections use a very small needle, so patients will feel a similar pinch experienced with Botox®. Some patients have reported a hot and uncomfortable feeling immediately after the injection. Ice will be applied to ease this discomfort and it typically subsides within minutes.
Some common side effects of Kybella include swelling, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness in the treated area. The swelling will continue to reduce over the next few weeks.
While results may vary for each patient, it is common to need multiple treatments to achieve desired results. Treatments are given 6 to 8 weeks apart.
Because Kybella destroys fat cells, the results are long lasting, but diet and exercise should be used to maintain fat loss, since Kybella does not prevent future formation of fat in the remaining cells.
